What do I need to watch Chitram TV?

Chitram TV provides Indian TV over the Internet. In order to connect to our service, you need to have a working internet connection with unlimited traffic ("Flatrate") and the connection speed of at least 1.5 megabits per second (1.5 Mbps). In Germany it is named "DSL 2000 flat". To prevent the delays and “hang up” of image by watching our TV and loading files from Internet we recommend you to have more speed. If you want to use two or more concurrent subscription, the speed of your Internet connection should be 1.5 megabits per subscription: for example, three subscriptions must have a minimum of 4.5 megabits (DSL 6000). One subscription can be used on only one device.

Sufficient result is more than 1.5 Mbps. If you have received the result of 1,4 Mbps or lower, we cannot guarantee you uninterrupted broadcasting. Try to make a speed test several times and at different times of the day to ensure a secure connection.

The next important step is to select the receiver. The receiver is a device that converts digital data stream from the Internet to the video and displays it on the screen. The receiver can be wired and wireless. Wireless receiver can be connected to your home WLAN / WIFI network. All receivers are equipped with digital video output HDMI, which allows you to connect them to a flat screen TV and get the best possible picture quality.

If you want to watch TV on your computer:

Chitram TV supported on all computers with a processor of 2GHz, a minimum of 1GB of RAM and a graphics card at least 64MB. Proven operating systems: Windows XP/Vista/7/8, Mac OS X 10.6 and above, Linux kernel from v2.6.

Can I get discount if I buy a second receiver for watching on the second TV?

We do not provide special prices for such cases, as the subscription is not bound to any physical link. So if the client get discount the abuses are unavoidable: a customer buys the second (third, tenth, hundredth) subscription at a reduced price and then resell it to third parties.

Can I watch Chitram TV on several TV at the same time?

The only one subscription can be used on one receiver. If you enter the same code on the other device by watching TV, the signal at the first device will be lost. So to watch different channels on several TVs you need the appropriate amount of subscriptions (and the corresponding speed of internet connection).

How can I test your TV Services before purchasing?

You can use codes from the "Live TV" at our website for watching TV on your computer. Before entering codes it’s necessary to read the instructions, located on the same page.

Who will set the equipment that I'll buy in your shop or at your dealer?

What are the conditions of action "invite your friend" and where should I specify the name of a friend, who recommended me to join you ?

Do you have the Time Shift function to watch the broadcast delay?

Yes, there is the so-called "broadcast delay", through which you can set a delay on the 1, 2, 3, 4, 8, 9, 10, 11:0. It will allow adjust the TV on your time zone.

How can I talk personally with your leadership?

The company management does not contact customers directly. You can send a message to the address info@chitram.tv and also per mail or fax. Our secretary will consider your request.

Some of TV channels are lost. Why?

We reserve the right to change the list of TV channels included in the package. Also, we can add channels to the package. Added channels appear in your receiver automatically.

A lot of TV channels are lost. Why?

Probably, you have changed the quality of broadcasting in the set- ups of your abonement. Try to change the quality to "standard" and check the channel list again.

My receiver is broken. What should I do?

If the receiver is bought less than two years ago, it can be repaired under warranty. If you have bought it from the dealer, you have to contact him at first. He can help you to change you broken receiver, but he is not obliged to do it. If the dealer cannot change your broken receiver, please contact our technical “Hotline” support service. Our employers will help you and will give you the further instructions.
If your receiver is already more than 2 years you have to contact our technical “Hotline” support and agree on a paid repair.

From which moment begins my subscription?

If you ordered an annual subscription with monthly withdrawal of money from your credit card or your bank account in Germany, the annual subscription begins from the day of the ordering.

If you have purchased a monthly or annual subscription paying for it in full (paid in advance), the validity of such subscription starts only when you use it for the first time. This means that if you will not use the purchased subscription it does not end prematurely. Therefore, if you wish, you can buy subscriptions "in reserve".

If the validity of my subscription ends. How can I extend it?

If the monthly sum gets withdrawn from your bank account automatically you do not need to do something. Your subscription will be extended for next year. In all other cases it’s recommended to purchase a new subscription in our online shop or at our dealers.

How can I order online?

Press the button "buy" and select how you want to watch the Indian television -on your TV or on your PC. This will bring up a page of the order. Choose the type of subscription; read the text of the Agreement and mark that you agree with the Terms of the Agreement. On the same page you can buy receivers and accessories. After selection of required goods, press the button "next" and follow the instructions.

I have paid for an order by credit card and at first I have received an order confirmation then suddenly received a message “your order has been cancelled”. What does it mean?

At credit card payment you need to enter the credit card data after ordering. That’s why at first you have received the confirmation of the order. But the order will be cancelled as unpaid if there is a problem with a payment. Try to make a new order. If the ordering fails several times in a row, try to choose another type of payment or contact our support.

I have ordered a receiver and a subscription. When can I get them?

If you choose a monthly payment from your bank account in Germany or paid by credit card, the access code will be sent to registered email immediately. And you will get the receiver in approximately 2-3 days after ordering.

When you have selected prepayment, we will send you the access codes and the receiver only after receiving the money in our account.

Unfortunately we cannot take the exactly information about delivery to the countries outside of Germany. The delivery can take up from one till two weeks.

I have paid an order with a bank transfer, why am I still not having codes for watching?

All orders must be checked by our employers. Order processing hours are Monday to Friday from 09:00 till 17:00. On Saturdays, Sundays and on public holidays the prepaid orders will not be processed.

How can I inform you about any changes in important documents (bank details, change of residence)?

How can I extend the contract? Should I write you something or not?

No need to write something. If the monthly sum gets withdrawn from your bank account automatically you do not need to do something. Your subscription will be extended for next year. In all other cases it’s recommended to purchase a new subscription in our online shop or at our dealers

When begins the 14-day period in which it’s possible to cancel the contract? -From the date of receipt of the subscription or from the receipt of the equipment?

If the equipment has been ordered, the rejection of the contract begins upon receipt of the equipment.

Which password should I enter on the private channels?

The password on closed channels corresponds the password of your abonement. It can be changed with the help of function “to change the code for the closed channels” in your online player or in menu of receiver. This can be any number except 0.

There is a picture freezing and sound disappearance on my receiver. What should I do?

At first you need to check the speed of your Internet connection at http://speedtest.chitram.tv If none of the servers shows normal speed, the problem may be with your Internet line. If there is no problem in speed your internet connection, please contact our technical support.

The VLC plug-in works incorrectly in browser: a channel does not launch or does not expand to full screen. What can I do?

We recommend you to use a separate program for television watching: ChitramTV Player.

If you want to watch on a Web browser, you can try the following:

Windows: you must install the VLC Player version 1.0.5

Mac OS X:

  • a. Download and install the plugin
  • b. Change browsers Safari and Firefox 4 into 32-bit mode or to use Mozilla Firefox.3 or Google Chrome.

There are fewer channels in the list and no archive. Why?

Change in receivers’ set-ups the quality of broadcasting from low to normal: Set up-broadcasting quality (bitrate).

Everything was working correctly, but now I’ve got a message that the access code is incorrect. What's the matter?

The reason can be one of the following:

  • a. Incorrect abonement/password. You have to try again (the access code can be blocked for 10 minutes if an incorrect data has been entered three times in succession. Then you can try again);
  • b. The duration of subscription has expired. You need to purchase a new subscription in our online store or at dealer;
  • c. Access has been suspended due to the fact that there is not enough money on your bank account or credit card for paying subscription. The necessary information will be sent at your e-mail address. If you have any questions, please contact our accounting.

My receivers/channels don’t work! What can I do?

Restart all equipment: Turn off the receiver, then the modem and router in the last turn. Then, turn on all equipment in reverse order with an interval of 2-3 minutes. If the problem persists after you have followed all of these steps, contact our technical support.

How to reset the box?

  • 6. give here Ip addres, Network mask, Gateway, DNS server (should be same like Gateway) and DNS server (8.8.8.8)

How to know which IP address you need for your chitramTV box?

Its very simple just get your computer or laptop Ip address and in the last octet make plus 2 or 3.

for example your computer has 192.168.1.5 ip address, than give your box 192.168.1.7 or 192.168.1.8.

and the other things Network mask, Gateway, DNS server1 (should be same like Gateway)shoul be same like your computer.

How to know your computer IP address?

Method 1:

  • 1. Click on Start -> control Panel -> Network and Internet -> under the Network and Sharing Center click on View Network Status and Tasks ->
  • 2. Local Area Connection -> click on Details.
  • 3. From here you please note down IPv4 address, IPv4 Subnet Mask, IPv4 Getway.

Method 2:

  • 1. Click on start -> All Programme ->Accessories -> command prompt -> Type ipconfig and press enter.
  • 2. From here you can note down the IPv4 Address, Subnet Mask and Defaul Gateway.

Firmware updates for Chitram Star HD (set-top box)

Why we need this update?

If during the use of Chitram TV the firmware started malfunctioning because of sudden electricity fluctuation or from some other reason, all you need to do is download the Firmware from the download link and follow the below mention simple steps:

  • 1. Download the Firmware. http://files.dune-hd.com/firmware/special/chitram/chitram__tv102/dune_firmware_chitram__tv102_131113_0925_b8b2.dff.zip
  • 2. Unpack/Unzip archive, rename the file from archive into dune_firmware.dff
  • 3. Copy it on a flash memory/USB stick.
  • 4. Insert the USB stick in the USB connector But please make sure before inserting the USB into USB drive the box should be power OFF
  • 5. Power ON the Chitram Star HD box, Wait until the installation of firmware ( During the installtion process LED light on the front of the box will change the colors for 10 to 15 seconds) .
  • 6. After this unplug the USB drive and reset the Power of your Chitram Star HD.
